Student & Parent Resources
This page will contain links and examples of as many useful resources as I can find. Please check back often and let me know if you find something interesting you think should go here.
Digital Citizenship & Safety
This year, we will be using a digital citizenship & safety curriculum from Common Sense Media in all our sixth and seventh grade EdTech classes. The curriculum covers a wide range of very important topics including:
Internet Safety, Privacy & Security, Relationships & Communication, Cyberbullying, Digital Footprint & Reputation, Self-Image & Identity, Information Literacy, and Creative Credit & Copyright. For a summary of the information we'll be covering, please click this link-->Curriculum Overview (en español) |
Dropbox
Dropbox provides an excellent, cloud-based, way for you to backup your files and anything you're working on. Click on the image to the left for my referral link. We both get extra space if you sign-up. If you have questions, here is a link to a tour of Dropbox. It's very helpful. [LINK]

Quizlet
|
How Quizlet works:
Quizlet has no pre-determined curriculum. Students define what they need to learn, and we provide the tools. We help Art History majors learn paintings, Spanish students learn their verbs, 5th graders learn their spelling words, and new waiters learn the menus of their restaurants. Our aim is to build software that any learner can use, so we make most of our stuff free. |
Nawmal:Nawmal movie maker is an animated movie maker in which the user selects the setting, characters, and creates dialogue. Their slogan, "If you can type, you can make movies" is pretty accurate. Users can download a program or use the web-based creator, but are required to sign up. Videos can be made free, but the free version limits the options. This is a great creative service I used this summer in a class on Technology. My YouTube version of the movie I made on Nawmal is on the right.
Prezi:A Prezi is a presentation tool that moves through information by zooming on words, pictures, or diagrams selected by the author. Prezi requires a sign-up to use, but is free. Prezi's can be embedded into a blog or website. Warning: Prezi's are a lot of fun, but can take up a LOT of your time.

GeoGebra
I LOVE this software. GeoGebra is free mathematics software for teaching and learning. You can download the software here, but please check with your parents/guardians first before downloading ANYTHING!
If you need help using GeoGebra, you can visit their help wiki. (Link) It has a plethora of manuals, useful information, video tutorials, and more. They even have a user forum for you to post questions or suggestions to. Give it a whirl.
